3 things you should check before renting an apartment for workers

You are looking for a temporary accommodation for your employees?

Here are some things you should check or ask for before you should rent an accommodation for workers.

  1. Budget and services

Check your budget and consider the price for the workers accommodation as an investment to your employees to keep them motivated at work and to offer them the possibility to relax with some privacy. You received a very good offer with an unbeatable price? Watch out closely! Some providers will send “sample images” of their places that have not so much to do with reality. You received an offer with a rather higher price? Ask for the services that are included.

Things you may and should ask for:

  • Does the apartment offer single beds?

  • How many people are supposed to share one bedroom?

  • Is there a bathroom that needs to be shared with another company?

  • How is the bathroom equipped?

  • Is there a kitchen that needs to be shared with another company?

  • How is the kitchen equipped?

  • Is a regular cleaning included?

  • Is bed linen provided?

  • Are towels offered?

  • Is the use of washing machine included?

  • Does the place offer a dryer for the clothes?

  • Is there free WiFi?

  • Is there a TV?

  • Are there parking possibilities?

  • Do I need to pay a security deposit?

2. Reviews on the internet

Luckily, in nowadays virtual times, it is quite easy to check providers of accommodations before a booking. Check out following sources:

  • Google reviews

  • reviews or shared experiences on Facebook

  • large booking portals such as Airbnb or Booking.com

3. Get into contact

Contact the apartment of interest directly and wait for the reply. What is your first impression? Is it a positive and open way to communicate? The best idea is to just do a phone call and then trust your gut feeling.

It's about your employees staying in an unfamiliar place for an extended period of time and you want to be sure that the apartment you book is good. You can also minimize the risk of trusting the wrong provider. In the worst-case scenario, a poor provider will cause you to find a new accommodation at a later point in time. This costs time, money and nerves. So play it safe!
